What is Brainbox in Peugeot Cars?

Lion King:  There is no such thing in Peugeot cars called Brainbox. What people call brainbox is actually ECU (Electronic Control Unit). It's an electronic module that controls and monitors certain parts of Peugeot cars, especially the newer Peugeot engines that are electronically controlled. The module that controls engines of newer Peugeots is known as Injection or Engine ECU. There were days when Peugeot engines were controlled by Ignition ECU and Injection ECU, but it's now one module.


There are other parts of Peugeot Cars other than Engine, control by separate ECUs such as Automatic Gearbox ECU, Radio ECU, ABS ECU, Suspension ECU, Steering ECU, etc. Depending on models, you may find about 10 ECUs that power different gadgets, Engine, etc.

Brainbox was just a name given to ECUs by people who didn't know the technical name and passed it on.


Some Peugeot Engines Have Timing Chains, while others have Timing Belts instead. Does one need to renew or change Timing belt often or leave the belt as it is?

Lion King:  Timing Belts in Peugeot Cars are meant to be changed after certain number of years of usage or mileage covered. Each Peugeot engine with timing belt has recommended change interval. Some of the Peugeot engine timing belts change interval have been posted already in the blog. One can also get it from his or her engine workshop manual or Peugeot dealerships. First thing to do is to find out if your engine has timing belt or timing chain. It has to be one of the them.

It's a good thing for one to know these basic things about his or her Peugeot car(s). Some people have different beliefs on Peugeot engine timing belt change intervals, which have manifested unpleasant experiences for them. Some have the beliefs that timing belt physical appearance determines when to replace. Nothing is wrong with that belief. It's what it manifest should be ones concern.


What can you say about the newer Peugeot security system?

Lion King:  Funny as I may sound, those who are busy discouraging people from buying Peugeot cars always skip this part, or probably not aware of the outstanding newer Peugeot cars security system. Park your Peugeot car anywhere and you will come back meet the Lion where you left it, smiling back at you. A Peugeot Car can even lock you up inside if you try to hack the security system. That's how good Peugeot security system is. Some people buy cars and install all sorts or kinds of car security systems and still lose their cars to thieves. But that's not in Peugeot owners dictionary. It's not a myth.

There are opinions from some Car users in Nigeria that using only Water in engine Cooling System is good enough. What's your Opinion?

Lion King:  Some Nigerians have beliefs that use of only water in Engine cooling systems is better than Coolant or Antifreeze. For example, if you are having a leaky Radiator issue and you take it to radiator repairer to fix the leak. Their usual question is "Did you pour coolant in the radiator?". The moment you answer yes, they may likely blame you for using coolant, which they believe caused the leakage. There are other beliefs that one shouldn't use coolant in new Radiator, but can be used in an old one. Others believed coolant should be used only when engine is overheating, to cool off the engine. There are so many of these beliefs that keep Nigerians away from using coolant.

People complain of engine failures. People complain of high fuel consumption or poor engine performance. But the funny part is, they keep doing same thing, over and over again, expecting different results, as Albert Einstein would say. So before you replace that failed or weak engine of yours, why not ask yourself if you used the failed engine the way it was designed to be used that led to the failure. Because replacing the engine without changing how you  use and maintain engines will manifest same result.

You are right to have a belief about the use of water only in cooling system as being better than coolant. But know that every choice you make must manifest something, an experience. How pleasant or unpleasant you find the manifestation or experience is left for your consumption. When you use only water in cooling system, it will rust the cooling system components and also form some rusty particles that blocks fluid passages in the system and overtime, will manifest overheating of engine. It will also manifest Water Pump failure or shortens it's lifespan. It will also manifest high fuel consumption. Water takes longer to warm up, and the longer it takes cooling system fluid to warm up, the higher the fuel engine consumes.

We have two types of Coolant: Concentrated and Premixed Coolant. Concentrated coolant would need to be mixed with water before pouring into cooling system. While premixed coolant has already been mixed with water and requires no additional water. Read the label of coolant container to know the type before you buy.

Coolant helps engine to Warm up faster, reduces fuel consumption, keeps entire cooling system clean, keeps coolant or water pump long lifespan intact, and ensures good engine performance and long lifespan.

So, does that Water belief of yours really serve you? If yes, continue. If no, you know what to do.


You have talked about Preventative Maintenance a lot. What exactly do you mean by that?

Lion King:   My simple definition of preventative maintenance is this: "Be a problem avoider, not a problem solver", as Abraham Hicks would say. It's not just about cars. Apply it in other spheres of your life.

When you change your engine oil when due, you are a problem avoider. When you change your engine timing belt when due for replacement, when you use coolant instead of only water in cooling system, when you change brake fluid every 2 years or as recommended by Peugeot, when you run your engine with Cooling system Thermostat, when you leave the Radiator cooling fan to work as designed by Peugeot, when you stop butchering your Peugeot Car electrics or wires, when you don't race your Peugeot cold engine, when you stop refilling your fuel tank only when low fuel tank warning shows up or run out of fuel and car stalls, when you stop judging other people or things in the Universe, when you start knowing how worthy and deserving of good life you are, when you stop seeking definition of who you are from other people or their opinions, when you follow your path and leave other peoples paths out of your life, when you realize how your Inner being loves and appreciates you unconditionally, then and only then, you are not a problem solver, but an avoider of one.

You have a choice: Be a problem solver or a problem avoider. That's summary of what I call Preventative Maintenance. The more spiritual you become, the more you will understand, unless you choose to apply Religion to it.


Are you saying there is difference between Religion and Spirituality? 

Lion King: Yes, there is. You can be Spiritual and not religious. You can be Religious and not Spiritual. You can be both.

Spirituality, in my own definition, is Self Realization. More like "Know thyself". Being spiritual is when you seek within, not outside self. Spiritual is self. Everyone has untapped potentials and powers within. Just that people ignore self and seek answers outside.


That leads to the next question. You Pointed out that Religious, Political, Tribal or Racial Discussions are not allowed in The Lion Community you founded. Any reason for that?


Lion King:   The Wars, genocides, terrorism,  tensions between nations, massive loss of human lives and all other ugly things that have been going on in the world for decades & centuries were as a result of people programmed from birth to choose the path of living in the past.

"That tribe said this or did that to our past and present generation; That Race hates ours; That political group or party is our Anti-tribal party because they said  that about our tribe or did that to our Tribal Politician; That Religious group preach Terrorism and my Religious group preach peace which makes us better; That Religious, tribal or racial group are terrorists, while mine are saints; That group deserved Hell, while my group deserve Heaven; That group, tribe or race stole or snatched from us what belonged to us in the past and that makes them our enemy; My tribe, religious group or Political party deserved to rule or produce the next leader while others don't; They did that, they said that, we heard that, etc." 

Everyone, every group, nation, tribe, is pointing accusing finger at the other, judging the other, spending every moment of their existence living in the past"

This moment is what matters, not the past or the future you have no control over. Yet people spend or waste their physical lifetime they came to experience, fighting for what people who have long gone did or were told they did, hating, criticizing and judging. Only to realise at the point of passing from this life "What a waste of lifetime"

The Lion Community I created or founded is a world free of all that. It's a world you come in and feel good. It's a world you visit and appreciate yourself and your existence. It's a world you are always reminded that you always have a choice, to follow your own path or follow other peoples paths. The Lion community is a world you are reminded that the only way to live the happy life you came to Earth for is to ignore or let go of the past and live in the moment you came to experience, if you choose to. It's not a world created for everyone.  I didn't create that world for people to live permanently in it. Instead, I created it as a place of visit, to learn and be empowered to create the world you want as well, following your own path without seeking followers, if you choose to.

My intention for creating The Lion Community was to empower interested Peugeot users and others who are interested in the brand and good life. And to create awareness that life is not as complex as  people made it to look like or want it to be. For example, members of the community have learnt to first ask questions and shoot later, if the shooting is still necessary. Unlike the belief of Shoot and Ask questions later. My Point is, members now pay attention to what goes on in their Lions and how best to maintain them. They now ask questions before they allow mechanics tamper areas in their Lions they are not comfortable with or not clear to them. They have started taking responsibilities of what they value, rather than allow their Lions to be messed up and start asking questions later, when harm has already been done. That's what The Lion community was created for.
